2015 Scholarship Recipients

Forty-one scholarships totaling over $45,000 were awarded to the class of 2015.


  • Francis Achour was awarded the Lester C. Roig Jr. Memorial Scholarship. Francis attends Miami University where he is majoring in finance.
  • Sydney Alibeckoff was awarded the Rocky River High School Class of 1986 Scholarship. Sydney is majoring in animal science (pre-vet) at The Ohio State University.
  • Rachel Bednarski was awarded the Alice Ferry Memorial Scholarship. Rachel attends The Ohio State University.
  • Brendan Benson was awarded the Kathleen Goepfert Scholarship. Brendan is serving in the United States Air Force and is studying political science and maritime transportation.
  • Lucy Bowers was awarded the Lois Van Gastel Brown Memorial Scholarship. Lucy attends Kent State University where she is majoring in musical theatre and voice.
  • Tess Carroll was awarded the Craig Saunders Memorial Scholarship. Tess studies international business and law at the University of South Carolina.
  • Erika Chmielewski was awarded the Rocky River High School Class of 1965 Memorial Scholarship. Erika is majoring in urban planning/urban affairs at Cleveland State University.
  • John Clark was awarded the Rocky River Chamber of Commerce Scholarship. John attends Miami University where he is majoring in business accounting/finance.
  • Caroline Cornelius was awarded the Julia Litzler Mayer Scholarship. Caroline studies ballet and at the University of Utah.
  • Mary Devito was awarded the George A. Purdy, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. Mary studies engineering and pharmaceutical science at the University of Notre Dame.
  • Meghan Donnelly was awarded the Nev Chandler Memorial. Meghan attends Ohio University’s Scripps College of Communication where she is majoring in media arts: screenwriting and production.
  • Carolyn Farling was awarded the Mary Kay Wilhelmy Memorial Scholarship. Carolyn is pursuing an arts and science degree at the College of William and Mary.
  • Emma Flynn was awarded the Brad McCoy Memorial Scholarship. Emma studies graphic design at Cleveland State University.
  • Emily Fox was awarded the Lawrence J. Badar Memorial Scholarship. Emily is pursuing a chemical engineering degree at The Ohio State University.
  • Alexander Hafko was awarded the Dan & Lee Ludwin Memorial Scholarship. Alex attends Purdue University where he studies aerospace engineering.
  • Kara Hall was awarded the Susan Wismar Cullman Memorial Scholarship. Kara is majoring in wildlife conservation at Virginia Tech.
  • Isabella Heimke was awarded the Joseph V. DeGrandis Memorial. Isabella studies anthropology and is on the pre-med track at the University of South Carolina.
  • Rosemary Holtz was awarded the Rocky River Masonic Lodge #703 Scholarship. Rosemary studies dietetics at the University of Pittsburgh.
  • Julia Inks was awarded the Debra Bernard Scholarship. Julia is pursuing computer science at Texas Tech University.
  • Eric Kanner was awarded the Roger Davidson Memorial Scholarship. Eric studies software engineering at Miami University.
  • Sally Kershner was awarded the Rocky River High School Alumni Association Scholarship in honor of Rex L. Zirbes. Sally is majoring in English literature at the College of Wooster.

  • Christian Kneubel was awarded the Do Your Best Scouting and Scholar Award. Christian is studying aerospace engineering at the University of Michigan.
  • Mollie Kopp was awarded the Nev Chandler Memorial Scholarship. Mollie broadcast journalism at Ohio University.
  • Frances McAfee was awarded the Christina Mueller, DDS Scholarship. Frances studies engineering at the University of Rochester.
  • Lea McClure was awarded the Blake Family Musical Scholarship. Lea studies music education and trumpet performance at Baldwin Wallace University.
  • Monica McDonough was awarded The Stickney Family Language Abroad Scholarship (Spanish). Monica studies creative writing and gender studies at Yale University.
  • Brian Meermans was awarded the Debra Bernard Scholarship. At Miami University, Brian is pursuing an engineering degree.
  • Ashley Moreman was awarded the Nev Chandler Memorial Scholarship. Ashley attends Ohio University where she studies digital communications.
  • Ceara O'Connor was awarded the Jack Harris Memorial Scholarship. Ceara is majoring in chemistry at Ohio Northern University.
  • Emily Pawluk was awarded the Melissa Herstrum Memorial Scholarship. Emily is pursuing a nursing degree at Purdue University.
  • Catherine Peters was awarded the Chan Engineering Scholarship. Catherine is majoring in biomedical engineering at the University of Cincinnati.
  • Juliana Rodriguez was awarded the Jane L. Balla Memorial Scholarship. Juliana is a vocal performance major at the University of Toledo.
  • John St. Pierre was awarded The Balancing Act Scholarship. John attends Loyola University Chicago where he studies communications, film, and digital media.
  • Alison Salisbury was awarded the Rocky River High School Alumni Association Scholarship in honor of Audrey Kremzier. Alison attends Loyola University, Chicago.
  • Tudor Sandu was awarded the Nancy Mihocik Memorial Scholarship. Tudor attends Stanford University where he is majoring in biology.
  • Eva Schneider was awarded the Susan Thibo Memorial Scholarship. Eva attends Valparaiso University where she studies exercise science.
  • Rebecca Shaffer was awarded The Stickney Family Language Abroad Scholarship (German). Rebecca is pursuing a mechanical engineering degree at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
  • Samuel Stankivicz was awarded the Mary Kay Wilhelmy Memorial Scholarship. Sam is pursuing chemical engineering at The Ohio State University.
  • Elizabeth Weger was awarded the Moriah Lydon Memorial Scholarship. Elizabeth is majoring in health sciences at The Ohio State University.
  • Brandon Williams was awarded the Moriah Lydon Memorial Scholarship. Brandon attends Canisius College where he studies chemistry.
  • Violet Yeager was awarded the Grant Gretta Memorial Scholarship. Violet studies computer engineering at Cleveland State University.
